Question
Some types of deposit are protected above EUR 100 000, namely (i) deposits resulting from real estate transactions relating to private residential properties, (ii) deposits that serve social purposes laid down in national law and are linked to particular life events of a depositor (marriage, retirement, …) and (iii) deposits that serve purposes laid down in national law and are based on the payment of insurance benefits or compensation for criminal injuries or wrongful conviction. Although these types of deposits above €100.000 are protected, we do not know the origin/purpose of the deposits and hence they cannot be filled in this category. These deposits are also reported under row 310 ‘Deposits not covered but preferential’.
Response
A best effort should be realized in determining the covered part of deposits, yet it is acknowledged that some covered deposits cannot be identified due to the origin or purpose they have/serve. In such case, the deposit shall be included in r310 or r320 depending on the nature of the deposit.
