Question
Could you please provide specif guidance on the classification of the short positions in the liability structure? Is it correct to include that liabilities in line R120 - Secured liabilities?
Response
This should depend on the nature of the contract. Typically, the instruments exchanged in a short position are not 'securing' the transaction as the receiving entity should be able to use them in other operations. If this is the case, the short position cannot be classified as secured for the purposes of this report.
